“…to a head…”
imagines a post-suitcase nuke America through an intersection of
painting, illuminated transparency, text, and music. Twelve painted panels are shown inside of a 60' canvas tunnel suspended from the ceiling. Multi-layered transparent images displayed in windows within the panels show the events unfolding, and text painted on the panels shows the thoughts of an American living through these events. Each section of the tunnel has its own looping track of music, so, as visitors move through the tunnel, they hear the progression of the entire musical piece, experiencing the music in their own time. “…to a head…” was created in collaboration with composer John Frantzen, writer Joseph Lennon, and artist Rose Frantzen. The soundscape was created by John Frantzen using thematic excerpts electronically remixed from his piece, In Canon, for violin and violoncello performed by Robert Uchida, violin, and Alon Bisk, violoncello. |
